If I haven’t said it enough in the past, it cosmetics’ secret sauce was one of my favorite moisturizers mostly because its one of those day or night types it makes your skin glow and it smells fantastic. I put on too much today but I used it yesterday evening and today. When I don’t take good care of my skin, you can see it. In other words, make sure when you do take off your makeup use an oil or thick gel before the cleanser incase anything is left because it will jack up your pores. When I did the Clinique take the day off oil, the beste cleanser and followed it with the secret sauce cream my skin looked fantastic. I wasn’t even wearing any makeup yet my skin was looking the best it did in quite some time. Letting you ladies and gents know the now carry the travel size jar at the checkout at your local Sephora(locations may vary but I saw them they are about $19-22 if im not wrong tiny but worth a try) because I don’t have any makeup on I can just sleep any minute which is fantastic. I can’t stop raving when I talk about this cream esp because my skin is so reactive to products and dry. This cream covers both issues. I actually thought it was discontinued but no it is sold at Sephora for sure its where I bought my full size jar.
I was just having this great conversation with friends how I never thought I’d be purchasing some huge bottle of Cetaphil cleanser but glad I did. I always considered myself a product snob but I also never say never to drugstore brands because I swear by some of the drugstore products. After my skin flared up due to laziness of jetlag(used only micellar water and that hyaluronic serum) my skin had turned into a dry and red blotchy mess it had never been this bad aside from my teenage years of living off fast foods. After getting a bottle of Cetaphil, my skin has improved overnight. I’m not dry and tight and I tossed the serum out. I’m currently using sheet masks, and this LuLuLun gel cream in the pink jar with the blue writing wonderful cream for my dry/combination skin and on other days when I don’t want to wear any makeup, I just use the pink version of the kikumasamune sake lotion! My skin had gotten so bad I couldn’t even wear makeup without looking bad. Now I feel so much better, thank you Cetaphil…and honestly how good do you smell?! No wonder my RN-friend says its a great cleanser.
My dad used to go “why is it you’re now using shaving cream for men and fancy ones” I’d laugh and tell him I was always on the hunt for a decent one from a drugstore and that shaving cream for men/and generally ones for their face was more ideal for my dry and sensitive body. He’d be like “ok…” So I’d tried lots of drugstore ones, a couple fancy ones I really liked the Malin+Goetz shaving cream and the Ursa Major one…but I always wanted to cut budget where I could and find—this Nivea men sensitive shaving foam.
Lucky for me it was sold at a supermarket right by our house, and they carried the gel and cream version but I decided cream was more my thing. It is made in Germany I paid about $1.84 after discounts and I was like wait I feel so guilty the can is so big.
So here’s some of the cool points of the shaving foam
-it smells like the usual masculine cologne HOWEVER it isn’t as strong and doesn’t linger as much as some other brands
-it is gentle and feels soothing on the skin
-contains ingredients like vitamin e, chamomile, and witch hazel.
-after shaving I didn’t feel uncomfortable
I will be repurchasing once I run out.
What a long week. I know it just started but I can’t even remember if its Monday or Tuesday right now. All I can say is I drank lots of coffee, my arthritis and psoraisis is back in full swing and I just dropped everything out of my purse. What a mess. The only good thing that came out of today was trying the living proof products. I love the light purple line. Is it repair or restore? Terrible memory issues right now.
I was eating terribly for the past 2 days or so and my skin broke out and I was like ugh. So Im kinda doing the switch products around thing. Im also trying to do as little sugar and starch diet to undo the damage. I was super excited reading the into the gloss article today. Im still on the fence about some of the more organic hair care lines because they smell rather strong but Garrett Markenson products are really good. I love reading top shelf articles. On a sad note my attempt to get my hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills palette was an epic fail. They sold out at the store I like to stop by because of all the discounts and black friday sales. I was so bummed. I only want the one palette so I was like Im not getting it shipped to me because I dont want a cracked palette and have to cry as I send it back to refund!
I bought this months ago when there was a discount being offered at a store. I own the 5oz version and its very easy to use. You can use it on your dry or wet face, 1-2 pumps then wash and it says its good for removing makeup too. Ever since I started taking double cleansing seriously my skin is back to looking clearer. If I’ve taken off all of my makeup the prior night, I just wet my face and wash my face in the morning with this cleanser right now. There is no burning sensation so that’s already great. It smells of fresh orange peels. If you like citrus or clean scents its for you. Might be good for acne prone people too. I think there is a reason why Dr Brandt is my favorite all time skincare line.
I don’t think I wrote a review for the product so I thought why not do it now. As you know by now, my skin is very sensitive and its dry. I’ve had great luck with some products others not so much. I have pretty good luck with bareMineral products with an exception to that popular goldish bottle tube tinted moisturizer looking one. Lucky for me it was a sample so I never thought about it again. Then one day I thought about what I’d do with the leftover foundations I’ve previously bought that are 1,2 shades too light(yes I’ve bought a couple embarrassing to admit). I needed something with sunscreen in it and something darker so I bought the bareminerals primetime primer cream the tinted version. I bought medium which was darker than I thought but once blended with the lighter foundation it was perfect.
It is thicker than most of the primers I know but very velvety in texture. The active ingredients are 2.6% titanium dioxide and 6.2% zinc oxide. Its a rather small bottle so it doesn’t even seem like its 1oz but it is and its perfect to mix with foundation they also carry a nontint and light shade. Doesn’t irritate my sensitive dry skin but everyone is different but I can tell you my skin will freak out at random ingredients in sunscreen maybe its a certain sunscreen and eye shadow. I had to quit using certain brand sunscreen (3 brands to be exact)and one famous cosmetic brands eye shadow after repeated red dry skin formed and i’d get teary eyed and itch my eyelids forever.
Kikumasamune uruoi nihonshyu- face mask(so here’s the thing I was all in on the k beauty masks until I realized how much I was forking out on individual ones some were 3.50 others higher then I get to a drugstore in Japan and come across resealable 7 sheet ones for under 600-700yen which is an equivalent to 6-7bucks in us dollars I immediately bought a pack of the pink Lululun(for sensitive or dry skin)and ofcourse this Kikumasumene uruoi(which means moisturizing its the pink package and its made with Japanese sake yes…similar to a famous international brand I wont say but its a fraction of the price and very soothing on my skin!)
Neutrogena extra gentle eye makeup remover pads
Neutrogena cleansing towelettes hydrating
Stila stay all day 10 in 1 HD illuminating beauty balm spf30
Oribe conditioner for brilliance and shine(I use a lot of conditioner its crazy)
Dr Bronner’s lavender castile soap (a multitasker you can use to clean makeup brushes, your hands when you need a quick wash, an excellent body wash)
Oribe supershine moisturizing cream 1.7oz (I found out there is a light version and the version I use which is for thicker hair)
Evian facial spray 1.7oz
Lanolips all over golden dry skin salve(smells like caramel meets vanilla very rich in texture and works for everything)
samples I used: dermalogica skin smoothing cream, Leonor Greyl masque fleurs de jasmine (not bad but I think I prefer Rahua for this kind of price i’d say try Rahua’s omega 9 one unless you love the scent of jasmine because I sure do!)
So I’m off the whole social media thing barely checking email I log in and everyone is pregnant or moving. What the heck. I need to get out more because I’m not finding opportunities of meeting people. The only guy I find remotely my type is the guy down the street.
I like the whole idea of being pregnant and being so far along not telling people and going YUP surpise! The only thing I’m worried about right now is how dry my hair and skin is. I can’t even really focus I still have to send in my applications too. I haven’t bought my tickets yet and its when I’m still behind that a random friend emails me to ask me what I did this summer. For once I was like dental work. I have to head back to the dentist at the end of the month but aside from that I’m an open book.
I thought about the 120 or 150 degree heat in California and I was like I’m not going to complain because things could be worse. I don’t know how I make it in the 90s.
I did discover the Neutrogena hydrating wipes and now its all i’ll need makeup remover wise. My days of lusting for Koh Gen Do wipes are long gone. The original Neutrogena wipes were good but these hydrating ones are amazing on my dry skin.
So here’s two more Drugstore Finds which I’m just going to label rather than title it that while I remember. I wasn’t sure if I wrote about the product here but L’oreal hydrafresh toner. I’m using that right now from time to time. Its alcohol free and it smells like heaven blessed it. Its got salicylic acid in it so if you feel a tad lazy and you don’t want to exfoliate, this toner may work for you. I bought it for about 7bucks and its 8.5 oz. It says you can use it day and night and I ended up purchasing this over the Neutrogena toner.
As for Neutrogena, I had this flashback of when I was younger and owned a tube of the Norwegian formula hand cream. Not only was I very pleased with the moisturizing element of the product, it always smelled nice. Not overpowering or strong in a bad way. I must say just about every product Neutrogena I’ve bought smells like a dream. I bought a tube at Walmart for under 4 bucks. I couldn’t believe it. I have officially decided to give up my $12+ L’occitane hand cream because its not as thick as Neutrogena. the hand cream is now a staple of mine!
My mom is now a new convert to Neutrogena and she tells me there is an eye makeup removing pad out now I was all ears. I have the hooded lid issue and sometimes when I try to look good I’ll do a smoky or winged liner look and it takes something heavy duty that doesn’t come off. My choice of eyeliner being waterproof or something kajal(which is another drugstore find I plan to write about here next)
She bought the round jar last week and its been such a blessing. I was a big fan of the Clinique take the day off eye makeup remover but the price was steadily going up and it was hard on my eyes when i’d accidentally drip some into the corners of my eyes. So this mess proof not too thin reversible eye makeup remover for sensitive skin was exactly what I was searching for. The pads are thicker than most cotton pads and lets say you got most of your eye makeup off but need more off flip the pad over and wipe the remainder on the opposite side
